Sonnet LII (Grocery Shopping)
It’s a fixed list of things to live
Though she’s not exactly running low
She’s to browse and buy and tick
It all before the store says they need to close
Tiny cars, lots of dolls, picky to eat at all
Read this, watch that, listen to the voice of God
Prayer will pay her path and heart and death
Will owe her time as she works this school
Of purpose to be a being she didn’t order
A pack of kids for the relatives yes?
A can of praise to warm up on Sundays
A bottle of water for others but herself
A man reduced to clear would shut them up
As she drowns in a debt of self with all this stuff
